The list of foods that are acidic do not have to be avoided completly - I would avoid saturated fat and soda - and just try to reduce your itake of the rest.
The list reads: Alcohol, chocolate, coffee, dairy, eggs, most fruits, peanuts, mayonnaise, processed foods, refined vegetable oils, saturated fats, soft drinks, soy sauce, sugar and white flour.
The first seven foods on the list are known to also have some health benefits. Red wine especially in moderation has some health benefits. Dark chocolate is a treat that has magnesium. Coffee has been known to prevent Parkinson's Disease, but in moderation. I still like my one cup in the morning. Low fat dairy is a way of getting calcium. We buy farm fresh dairy eggs and consider them to be a good whole food, but not every day. I would rather snack on an orange than a doughnut. Peanuts/peanut butter have protein and good fats.
Slightly acidic foods: Black beans, Brazil nuts, cantaloupe, chicpeas, dates, hazelnuts, nectarines, plums, sunflower seeds and walnuts.
Weak acidic foods: Berries, citrus fruits, honey, tomatoes, vinegar and whey.
In my previous blog when I listed the alkaline foods, there are many foods to choose from. I also said that a friend said that no matter what you eat the salad has to be there. This salad goes a long way to neutralize some of the acid foods that we eat. If you pay attention to the "good" foods, there is a lot to eat.
