Dinner Party Do's and Don't's

Have you ever been frustrated when you have obligatory parties or dinner obligations and you really want to stick to your diet; so that the scale the next morning will not reflect any weight gain.  This is a difficulty of mine - if it is a small dinner party sometimes I get into this feeling that I have to be polite and compliment the hostess on all her food.  Usually everything does taste delicious, but I only want to eat a little bit.

I have read a bit about suggestions about what can be done and still enjoy the food and wine. If you go out to eat - and in the United States enormous portions are often served- cut the portion in half right away and take the rest home in a doggy bag.  Never order the fried
foods and attempt to have a salad and the lower calorie appetizers  Be careful about how much you drink since any drink can add up the calories fast.

Then there is the buffet.  This is a real spoiler - the food is there and you want to try everything, plus you might have paid for the meal so you want your money's worth. In this situation you need to go for the main dishes that are simple.  I can avoid the rich heavy foods and go light.  Then I can have a small dessert.

If you are asked to bring a dish to pass, bring something that you enjoy that is healthier.  Someone may pick up on your idea of healthy food.

It is always a challenge, but you can resist.
