Yoga is a Sanskrit word meaning "union", signifying that it is designed to make you feel at one with your mind, body, and spirit. Over five thousand years ago, ancient sages in India developed yoga. It has been practiced ever since and has spread from India to the rest of the world.
Thee exercises of yoga frequently bring healing to the body. Even people who suffer from physical handicaps are able to improve their condition through yoga. Breathing techniques associated with yoga help to improve the consciousness of the mind and help the spirit to feel in tune with one's body and with the world around it. Yoga is the oldest system of development involving the entire person.
One form of yoga that is becoming increasingly popular is Kundalini Dance. One of the reasons for its popularity is that no previous knowledge of the charkas is required. All that is needed is a willingness to dance. Yoga has even been adapted to meet the specific needs of Christians who do not wish to engage in a pagan practice. Brooke Boon is the author of a book titled Holy Yoga: Exercise for the Christian Body and Soul.
