Healthy eating is really not as difficult or time consuming as most people might think. Use common sense and moderate portions. Grains, vegetables, fruits and nuts are good healthy staples. Avoiding fried foods, fast foods and red meat is suggested. With the health problems of today, people have become a lot more health conscious.
Make sure and take vitamin supplements and eat a lot of vegetables (especially green leafy ones). If you can't afford fresh vegetables in today’s economy, frozen is the next best thing. Frozen vegetables are picked when ripe and quickly frozen for optimal freshness and have the least additives. Vegetables and fruits contain a lot of vitamins and antioxidants in them.
Avoid red meat. If you have to have red meat in your diet, please try and keep it to a minimum. This means three ounces of red meat a week. Chicken and fish are also very good for you and your health. As far as fish goes though, more white fish is recommended.
Pork is considered the other white meat but beware. It is better for you than red meat, however moderation again is the key. Another way to make any food healthier is to grill or bake it.
Frying any food always makes it unhealthier for you. Grains are another thing important in a balanced healthy diet. Avoid white breads and go with whole wheat or grain breads. Pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds are also a healthy snack, when that hunger bug strikes.
